My research focuses on two topics:
- Resource allocation in microorganisms. I use mathematical models to investigate how limited resources are distributed among various cellular processes to facilitate adaptation to environments, with a particular focus on the model organism Escherichia coli.
- Positions of genes on circular chromosome in bacteria. By quantifying the bias level of gene positions across species, I found a large proportion of genes have biased positions near both the origin and terminus of DNA replication. Based on these findings, I propose that cell growth, resource allocation, and genome organization are coordinated with each other in bacteria. Currently, I am testing this hypothesis using theoretical models, and plan to carry out experimental validation in the future.
