Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences

Computer Science founded in the year 2002 at the Heinrich Heine University is very much networked in the university due to its focus on bioinformatics which fits to the research focus life sciences of the university.  This allows exciting multidisciplinary research cooperations with interesting and seminal choices during studies.

The Computer Science Department in Düsseldorf is one of the smallest one in Germany, however it distinguishes itself by particular research activities -- involved in diverse European and German research networks and international cooperations.

About us

Research focuses

Members of the Computer Science department actively participate in many research areas. Our research topics are frequently subject of third-party funding, e.g. by DFG, EC, BMBF, BMWi, several foundations as well as enterprises.

Examples for current research topics are: bioinformatics methods for predicting the antigenic evolution of human influenza viruse, for genomic analyses of different cancer types an of microbial communities, graph algorithms, distributed and parallel infrastructures, computional social choice,safety-critical systems, data mining methods as well as innovative applications in car-to-car communication.

The detailed description of the research topics can be found on the pages of the corresponding research groups.
