Analyzing the gut microbiome

In a collaboration with the university clinic we are analyzing data from a cohort of leukemia patients who received a bone marrow transplant. Long reads sequenced by Nanopore technology are supplemented with high-accuracy Illumina short reads in order to resolve the microbial composition of the patient's gut.  In addition, we provide interactive visualizations of these and supplemental clinical data that enable direct and intuitive access to high-dimensional data sets. The ultimate goal is to develop algorithms to detect correlation between clinical progression and microbiome composition and inform therapy decisions.
