Bachelor / Master Theses
On this webpage you will find useful information about bachelor’s and master’s theses at our chair.
If you are interested in writing a thesis with us, we recommend that you contact us well in advance of your planned start date. Beginning a bachelor’s or master’s thesis only makes sense if you have already met all the prerequisites, especially the required credit points, or are about to fulfil them in the near future. In addition, you should have successfully completed the following courses:
Bachelor’s thesis:
- Data Science
- and at least one of the following courses:
- Introduction to NLP
- Introduction to Deep Learning (= Einführung in Deep Learning)
- Python for NLP
- Bachelor compulsory seminar (= Bachelorpflichtseminar): Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning
Master’s thesis (at least one of the following courses):
- Spoken Dialogue Systems
- Reinforcement Learning
- Topological Data Analysis
Our chair has compiled a list of potential topics for final theses. The work can be carried out in one of these areas, with the exact topic ideally refined together with the student. These topics are only suggestions and can be adapted to your wishes and interests within the respective field. You are also welcome to propose your own topics.
We recommend that, before meeting with a supervising staff member, you familiarise yourself with the relevant topics so you can clarify your ideas. If you are interested, please contact the scientific staff by e‑mail and attach your current transcripts of records.
